Vail Jr. and Leslie Miller
My wife Leslie & I split our time between St. Helena, CA & Dayton, OH. Our daughters - Grayson lives in Charleston, SC (Working for E&J Gallo Winery), and Annie lives in Denver, CO (Working for the NCSL - National Conference of State Legislatures).
I grew up in Dayton, OH, and graduated from Miami University. I met my wife Leslie (who grew up in High Point, NC, and graduated from UNC Greensboro) the summer of 1992 in Jackson, Wyoming - The first summer I didn't work for the family business. The Family Business - Heidelberg Distributing Company - was founded in 1938 by my Great Grandfather. Leslie's Great Grandfather founded Harriss & Covington, a hosiery mill, in 1920, which is still thriving!
Heidelberg was purchased by Redwood Capital in December 2021 and continues to thrive! Now - on to the next adventure. How do we start the next 100-year run?
We purchased The Crane Assembly, founded by Dave Phinney and friends - Bryan Sandoli, Kevin Fox & Darryl Browman - based in St. Helena, CA. St. Helena is where my parents purchased a home in the 1990s. It is where we spent a few weeks each year visiting, hosting family reunions, and building cherished relationships in the industry that we love.
We are grateful for the previous owners and Wight Vineyard Management. We are excited to add Atelier Melka to the Team, supporting Ryan Keith (our General Manager). Yes - lots of gratitude. We are so proud of the Wines, the History, the Tradition, and the Future they represent. Onward!
Wight Vineyard Management
Wight Vineyard Management farms over 500 vine acres in the Napa Valley and has deep roots through founder Doug Wight. Doug is a 5th generation St. Helena native with a family history that dates by to 1864 when his great, great Grandfather migrated west with his family along the Oregon Trail from Iowa.
